8月. 8-9, nearly 20 St. Philip’s 大学 students and employees attended the 2024 Texas Student 领导 Summit, hosted by Project MALES (Mentoring to Achieve Latino Educational Success) in Austin. The event brought together more than 350 students, 工作人员, 教师, and professionals from 32 institutions across the state to participate in workshops and hear from speakers on topics such as leadership, college and career readiness, 身份, and brotherhood.

The summit theme, “The Courage to Lead,” aimed to prepare students for the upcoming school year and help them develop into strong leaders. It featured 26 workshops focused on equipping students with practical tools for leadership and success.

St. Philip’s 大学 Vice President for Student Success Wesley Wells delivered a presentation titled, “Empowering Excellence: Conquering the Imposter Phenomenon Among Students of Color.” The presentation covered key learning objectives, including understanding imposter syndrome and its impact on academic, 个人, and professional success, exploring contributing factors, and offering strategies to build resilience and confidence.

“It is always great to fellowship with students during the conference. The growth seen when they return to campus is remarkable. This year's group built a community that will impact the college at large,” Wells said.
